Rule of Thirds (Composition)

Lecture :
At the beginning of class Ms Lisa had given us a brief presentation about the Rule of Thirds. She explained the importance of composition in a photograph. She showed us that colour, texture, movements all can make a huge difference to the viewer.Ms Lisa then asked us to drew a box ,one with the Rule of Thirds Grid while the other without.Ms Lisa then proceed by asking us to draw anything (a flower, ect.) in the empty grid-less box.I drew a flower sightly off centre towards the corner of the frame. When asked who drew anything at the centre of the frame majority of the class hands rose up.When this happened Ms Lisa showed us a picture of a tree, one taken from the centre frame and the other slightly off centred, she then questioned us as to which picture looks best. All preferred the second picture where the tree is off centre. When she asked why my answer was simple "Simply because the tree looks static."She said that was right it look rather unappealing. We then dived into our new assignment.
Ms Lisa showed us a couple of videos regarding the Composition of Rule of Thirds assignment done by our seniors. There was a story about a shoe(which touched my heart),one about cars(which was pretty insane/as in cool)a funny one about goggled eyes and people jumping.I enjoyed watching the videos.A stop motion is when you take one shot and move the subject and take another, its a long process but it is worth while. After the whole lecture Ms Lisa told us to take out our view finder which acts like a frame to give you a rough idea where the lines should be.

At the beginning my subject matter was my trusty bunny key chain.I took two shots with it,then I got bored and decided to explore different ways of taking photos instead of using the same subject.

Miss Lisa particularly liked this flower shot.

Before class ended Ms Lisa told us about our second assignment.I've chosen jellybeans as my medium and will work on a stop motion video. The assignment is due next two week( 5th June).
